- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For even softer cookies, slightly underbake them.
- Ensure butter is softened but not melted for the best texture.
- Do not overmix the dough after adding the flour, as this can result in tough cookies.
