- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 ripe medium bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan, or line with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix. If using, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve.
Notes
- Ensure bananas are very ripe for the best flavor and sweetness.
- Do not overmix the batter, as this can result in a tough banana bread.
- For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
