Ingredients
Scale
3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 onion, finely minced
250g ground beef
250g ground pork
1 large egg
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Sweet and Sour Sauce:
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup water
Optional: Fresh chives for garnish
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, minced onion, ground beef, ground pork, egg, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly with your hands until everything is well incorporated.
Form the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a tablespoon.
Place a wire rack on a baking tray and spray it lightly with oil. Arrange the meatballs on the rack.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 25 minutes, or until the meatballs are browned and cooked through.
While the meatballs bake, prepare the sweet and sour sauce. In a small saucepan, whisk together the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, cornstarch, and water.
Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens to a syrupy consistency, about 3 minutes.
Once the meatballs are baked, transfer them immediately to a large bowl. Drizzle with some of the sweet and sour sauce and gently toss to coat.
Serve the meatballs warm with toothpicks, and offer the remaining sweet and sour sauce on the side for dipping. Garnish with fresh chives, if desired.
